Don’t let the intensive hike to Kelingking Beach itself put you off, as it’s an amazing spot to visit when in Bali!
Where is Kelingking beach?
Kelingking beach is located on the southwest coast of the beautiful island Nusa Penida and it is by far the biggest attraction there. This place has been nicknamed T-rex by the shape of the rocks in which you can, with some imagination, see a dinosaur.
To reach the beach you have to go down a steep path along the rocks but…this is a pretty intensive hike and is not for the faint hearted! 😉
When planning your tours in Bali don’t forget to visit Kelingking Beach Nusa Penida.

How to get there:
From Sanur harbour you can take a fast boat and in no more than 45 minutes you arrive at Nusa Penida! From there a driver will pick you up and bring you to the infamous Kelingking viewpoint.
To get to the beach, you will need to hike down the cliff. It will take you around 45 min up to an hour to get to the beach. Keep in mind, the real challenge is getting back up! Depending on your fitness level, it will take 2 or even 3 hours! But don’t let this scare you, because once you’ve made it, you will be rewarded with a pretty much empty beach, white sand and clear blue water!

Best photo spot at Kelingking vieuwpoint:

For those who are not fond of intensive hikes, don’t worry because the real beauty can be found at the top of Kelingking viewpoint, jaw dropping view included! This will also be the best spot to get the money shot! We also recommend staying for sunset, that’s when the real magic happens!

Tips if you want to hike down to Kelingking beach:
  • Go early! We are talking 7 AM. Not only will there be less people, it will also be less hot than during the afternoon if you want to take the hike down to the beach.
  • Wear decent shoes. By no means can this hike be done wearing flip flops.
  • Bring water and some snacks. Again, you will need all the energy you have to be able to complete the hike.
  • Be careful when swimming at the beach. The swell is pretty strong and the waves can get pretty big.
  • Having a good physical condition is recommended but you can take as much time as needed of course.
